INCLUSION, SEND AND LOCAL OFFER

SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS AND DISABILITIES

Inclusive Practice

At Granville Plus Nursery School we celebrate the progress and learning of all our children. We are a highly inclusive setting with highly trained and experienced staff who have a deep understanding of child development and know exactly how to help each and every child make their next step of progress however big or small that is. We will talk to you and share what is happening at nursery for your child.

If your child needs some additional support their key person will meet with you to write a One Page Profile, which is a highly individualised document that helps us all to understand your child better and provide the most effective care and support for them. Often, we can provide all the support a child needs in nursery. But we may want to refer to specialist services to get a clearer picture or more evidence of their needs.

As a team we work alongside professionals in the NHS who carry out assessments and provide therapies for children with additional needs. Lucy (our SENDCO) can refer children in to these services. Please ask to see her if you have a concern about your child’s development.

If your child needs higher levels of support we may talk to you about a referral for additional funding. And to support them when they go to school, we may be able to help you apply for an Education, Health and Care Plan from the Local Authority.

THE LOCAL OFFER

Local Authorities and schools are required to publish and keep under review information about services they expect to be available for the children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/or disabilities (SEND) aged 0-25. This is known as the ‘Local Offer’.

The intention of the Local Offer is to improve choice and transparency for families. It will also be an important resource for parents in understanding the range of services and provision in the local area.  Information is published as part of the SEND reforms under the Children and Families Act 2014.

Brent Council's Local Offer can be found here:
